Scientist on the Run

As a scientist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, I am always looking for ways to give back to the community, whether it's in the laboratory, where I study breast and ovarian cancer, or use my love for running through the "One Love Run" initiative to inspire and bring people together. Early last year, I told a few friends I was going to run 7 marathons in 7 days and they thought I was crazy. Probably, this is the reason why Spencer West calls me "The Mad Scientist". Well, I completed all 7 marathons in 7 days and I was in the laboratory after each run. Last December, I did 31 half-marathons in 31 days to raise funds for "Voices of Children Foundation" and I run my age in miles on my birthday for the past five years...
What's next? How can I go beyond what I typically do? Well the Miami marathon is the perfect platform, this time I will do something different, I have already done the half-marathon a few times and I was Dr. Dribble's run support for the full-marathon this year. The Miami marathon is our home race and it's a perfect place to do something "Majestical", so I have decided to run both the full and half back to back on January 28th, 2018. Yes!!, you read that correctly...39.3 fun miles, my goal is to complete the run in 6 hrs or less...I will use my miles to raise funds for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and as a tool to bring awareness to cancer. Join me on my journey until race day...thanks in advance for the support..
